PARTY FACE: 5 tips to get you through a hangover

About Us page component.

A couple of slices of cucumber before bed would reduce the intensity of your potenial hangover (it's to do with the sugar, vitamin B and electrolytes), but if you seem unlikely to find salad appealing when you're making your way to bed in the early hours of the morning, here are some more tips to see you through a heavy head.

  1. If you've been drinking a lot of alcohol this season, you're likely to be dehydrated. Replenish your skin with a Balance Me moisture rich face cream (£24). Coconut water can also help you to rehydrate, just make sure you check that there's no added sugar first.
  2. If you've got time to laze around in the morning watching back to back Friends, be nice to your skin with an Elizabeth's Daughter purifying mask (£11.95). The longer you leave it on, the better it is for your skin. Drink orange juice whilst you're doing it for a good shot of vitamin C.
  3. Going out to work, meetings or even just catching up with friends when you're a little worse for wear can make you feel quite self conscious, especially about your face. Brighten up your appearance by gently massaging New CID primer (£28) in to your skin and lining your eyes with New CID's Bronze i-Gel Longwear Eyeliner Trio (£21.50). A touch of gold under your eyes will make them look brighter and more alert. Complete the look with an orange peachy eyeshadow like FACE Stockholm's Bomull cream version (£22) – perfect for returning your skin to a normal shade.
  4. Exercise may seem like the last thing you want to do when your head is pounding, but a bit of gentle movement could actually make you feel better. If you're not used to sweating it out, try something a little bit softer like walking or swimming.
  5. Drink a vegetable and fruit filled smoothie! Open your fridge and replenish your body with all the vitamins it is currently craving. Green leafy vegetables (kale, brocolli) and dark coloured fruit (blueberries, blackberries) are antioxidant rich.
